Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are bringing this week the results of DNA tests on the remains of American Guillermo Sobero whom the Abu Sayyaf beheaded in June last year.
The test results will pave the way for the filing of murder charges against the extremist group for the killing of Sobero, said a police official who requested anonymity.
Probers, the official said, have been waiting for Soberos death certificate to file the case.
Sobero was among 20 hostages, including American missionaries Martin and Gracia Burnham and Filipina nurse Ediborah Yap, whom the Abu Sayyaf seized from the Dos Palmas resort in Palawan on May 27, 2000. Christina Mendez
