Ex-cop guns down Revilla kin

IMUS, Cavite — A nephew of Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr. was shot dead for still unknown reason by a former policeman after a drinking spree here Tuesday night, police said.

The victim, Albert Bautista, 58, a former security chief of former Cavite governor, now Videogram Regulatory Board chief Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., was shot eight times in the face and head with a caliber .45 pistol.

His assailant, identified as Mario Reyes, a former Kawit policeman who had gone on AWOL (absence without official leave) after being tagged in a murder case, escaped after the incident.

Police said Bautista and Reyes, along with some friends, had a drinking bout in Barangay Bucandula Tuesday night. The victim left the group at about 7 p.m. and was approaching his Honda Accord when Reyes appeared and shot him.

The suspect escaped aboard Bautista’s car which was later found abandoned in Barangay Malagasang I here.

In another incident, armed men attempted to snatch the personal driver of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office chairperson Livia Singson-De Leon, while on his way home to Dasmariñas town this province.

De Leon is a sister of former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis "Chavit" Singson.

In his sworn statement, Marlon Macadang-dang, 28, said five men aboard a Nissan Vanette blocked his Toyota Corolla along the Molino Highway.

The group, however, later backed off after sensing that motorists were watching the commotion.
