Calamity aid awaits fire-hit Cebu sitio

CEBU CITY — The city government is set to declare Sitio Upper Kawayan in Barangay Sambag II as a calamity stricken-area following Saturday’s fire which left three people dead and rendered 228 families homeless.
Councilor Gerardo Carillo, chairman of the city council’s committee on social services, said he will introduce a resolution declaring Upper Kawayan a calamity-stricken area when their regular session resumes tomorrow.
Carillo said his resolution would facilitate the release of calamity funds needed for relief and rehabilitation efforts of the city government. — Freeman News Service
