Flooded barangays to hold postponed polls today

-
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday they would hold barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections today in areas where polls were earlier postponed due to flooding.

Elections will be held in the following municipalities of Pampanga — Candaba, San Simon and San Luis, Masantol, Macabebe, Sasmuan, Sto. Tomas, Guagua, Lubao and Minalet.

Likewise elections will be held in 13 barangays of San Fernando and one barangay of Arayat, also in Pampanga.

Polls will also be held today in 23 barangays of Hermosa, in the whole municipality of Abucay, 3 barangays of Dinalupihan, and the whole municipality of Orani, all in Bataan.

In Bulacan, elections will be held in four barangays in the municipality of Calumpit.

In Tarlac, polls will be held in the municipality of Gerona, one barangay in San Jose, one barangay in Mayantok, and 12 barangays in Moncada.

Meanwhile, a known alleged jueteng lord in San Fabian, Pangasinan become a provincial board member representing the Liga ng mga Barangay otherwise known as the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC).

Roland Villegas, known provincewide as RV, was elected unopposed as barangay captain of Anonang, San Fabian. Though the election for the municipal federation presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay is yet to be held middle of August, and the provincial level a month later, Villegas is confident he would easily clinch the position against his possible opponent in his town, former Mayor Jog Magliba, who won unopposed as barangay captain of Nibaliw.

This early, talks are circulating that money would flood the Liga ng mga Barangay polls as Villegas is known for spending generously and wants to win in the provincial board "no matter how much it would cost him." — Sandy Araneta, Eva de Leon
