Ilocos dad killed

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur A city councilor was shot dead by two suspected hired guns who coldly carried out their job inside a cockpit here full of people last Sunday.
Killed was Candon Councilor Jaime Cobangco who was himself a cockfighting aficionado, police said. He was shot at his breast and at his back. Both suspects were collared by policemen after the incident. They were carrying caliber .45 hand guns.
Candon police chief Supt. Cornelio Barrios identified the suspects as Rudy Velasco of Lacay, Pangasinan and Eduardo Gambino of Binalonan, Pangasinan.
Cobangco used to be a Barangay captain of Bagar in Candon and was serving his second term as councilor, one of two opposition bets who survived the administrations rout of the council race in the last elections.
Candon Mayor Grace Singson cited the slain councilor as a cooperative member of the council adding that her administration and her partymen in the council encountered no difficulties in dealing with him. Teddy Molina
