Teacher, 8 others hurt in ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna Nine people, including a public school teacher, were wounded when New Peoples Army (NPA) guerrillas ambushed them in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque last Monday.
Those wounded were identified as teacher Lorna Jalimbawa, Pfc. Amelito Garcio, of the 74th Infantry Battalion; Reynante Maling, Mario Madrino, Romeo Sanchez, Joseph Pamig, Donato Panopio, Reynaldo Malilom and a certain Cadiz.
Superintendent Benjamin Belarmino, of the Southern Tagalog polices operational and planning office, said the group was on board a truck carrying two ballot boxes when they were waylaid.
The group was en route to the capital town of Boac from Barangay Kilo-kilo in Sta. Cruz.
