The board of directors of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAAI) has expressed full support for the appointment of Philippine National Police chief Director General Leandro Mendoza as secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications.
In a resolution dated June 19, the PMAAAI described Mendoza as a "highly qualified, very competent and capable officer who has ably demonstrated his outstanding leadership, management expertise and high sense of professionalism."
The group also noted that President Arroyo, who appointed Mendoza to the DOTC last June 5, has herself expressed her full trust and confidence in Mendoza.
A PMA graduate and former president of the PMAAAI, Mendoza was appointed acting chief of the PNP shortly after the EDSA 2 uprising in January 2001. His appointment was made permanent on March 16 last year.
