CALAMBA CITY Three men who hijacked a truck loaded with about P1.8 million of canned corned beef in Parañaque City Tuesday night, were arrested here, thanks to the brave driver and his helpers who caught the attention of patrolling policemen.
The three suspects Rodolfo Fernandez, 33; Levi Pacsa, 32; and Louie Famador, 28 were cornered in Barangay Turbina after a chase.
Driver Reinante Lobo, 21, told police they were en route to the North Harbor in Manila for the shipping of the 1,400 boxes of canned corned beef to Davao when the suspects flagged them down along Sucat Road.
Lobo and his two helpers were dragged to the suspects car, while a fourth suspect commandeered the truck which remains missing.
Lobo grappled for the gun of one of the suspects, while his helper Rodolfo Melgar jumped off the car, catching the attention of a mobile police team which then gave chase. Rene Alviar, Ed Amoroso
