SBMA police nab driver in attempted rape case

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Intelligence and investigation officers of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) arrested yesterday a 46-year-old driver at the posh Triboa Bay and Country Club for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old daughter of a tenant in one of the villas here.

The victim, Rosanna (not her real name), positively identified Ramon Miranda in a line-up of all househelps of other villas ordered by the management of Triboa Bay.

SBMA investigators disclosed that the incident took place at about 12 midnight on June 8 when "Rosanna" saw a man peeping through the window of her room.

She told investigators that she ignored the incident as she thought it was only their gardener.

Several minutes later, as she fell asleep, the suspect entered her room, pulled off her blanket, and poked a bolo on her neck as he started touching her private parts.

The victim tried to scream for help but failed as the suspect covered her mouth and slapped her. However, she was able to free herself by pushing and kicking Miranda, then ran to her parents’ other villa. Her brother and boyfriend responded but Miranda was able to escape.

He was later arrested after the management of Triboa Bay ordered a line-up of all house helps.

Relatives of the victim also claimed the suspect stole valuable items inside their house.

Miranda verbally admitted before provincial prosecutors that he molested the victim but denied taking valuables inside the house.

He is now detained at the Bataan provincial jail. Bebot Sison Jr.
