Hubby of Doy’s kin part of bigger kidnap gang?

Police are interrogating the husband of a relative of former Vice President Salvador "Doy" Laurel amid suspicions that he could be a member of a bigger kidnapping syndicate operating in Central and Southern Luzon.

The suspect, Isagani Reyno, arrested at his residence in Cainta, Rizal the other day by agents of the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Force (NAKTAF), was implicated in at least two kidnappings for ransom.

Reyno is the husband of Teresa Platon Reyno, niece of slain former Tanauan, Batangas mayor Cesar Platon and a relative of Laurel.

"We are trying to extract information from him because he could just be a member of a bigger kidnap-for-ransom gang," said Deputy Director Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., NAKTAF chief.

Two alleged cohorts of Reyno, Dean Gonzales and Rolando Vigilia, are also under police custody. Gonzales was arrested too, while Vigilia surrendered to the task force.

Ebdane and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jose Lina and Philippine National Police chief Director General Leandro Mendoza presented the three suspects to the media at Camp Crame yesterday.

Reyno’s group was linked to the abduction of Quezon businesswoman Grace Aguilar in Quezon City last March 6, and 17-year-old student Pamela Lacap in Sampaloc, Manila last year. Jaime Laude
