CEBU CITY An opposition city councilor believes that ailing Mayor Tomas Osmeña will eventually resign at the end of his six-month leave of absence.
Vicente Kintanar Jr., who was recently sworn in as councilor to take over the post vacated by Firmo Dayao who resigned last year, said six months may not be enough time for Osmeña to fully recover from the hypertension attack that has forced him to be hospitalized since early this month.
But Osmeña shrugged off Kintanars speculation, and accused the councilor of "dreaming."
"Tell him to stop dreaming," Osmeña said. "I will not resign."
Osmeña earlier announced that he was going on a six-month leave to rest and undergo medical tests in New York.
Osmeña was rushed to the hospital unconscious on March 9 after collapsing at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral where he stood as sponsor at a wedding. His blood pressure then rose to 240 over 120. Freeman News Service
