Failing to qualify as a state witness, a man who earlier admitted having beheaded a village chief, upon the orders of Abu Sayyaf leaders, in Maluso, Basilan in 1994 found himself facing murder charges yesterday.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed the murder case against Alfredo Peñaflor who surfaced in Isabela, Basilan recently and admitted having beheaded Solomon Mayang after the military released footage of the incident.
Peñaflor said he beheaded Mayang while a companion, Junie Abines, did the same thing to Mayangs son, Jonathan.
Peñaflor was one of five employees of a land surveying firm whom the Abu Sayyaf snatched in Sumisip, Basilan in November 1994. Jaime Laude
