2 pupils in fatal maul of young peacemaker sued

Six days after the death of their 10-year-old daughter, the parents of the victim formally filed charges yesterday against her two classmates who allegedly mauled her last Feb. 5.

The police, however, tossed to the prosecutors office on what charges should be filed against the suspects, aged 9-year-old and 10-year-old.

Police prober Reynaldo Año said Marciano Estrelles, father of the victim, Marlyn surfaced at the police station yesterday to lodge a complaint against the suspects who reportedly punched her daughter at the back and in the head near the ear.

Despite the willingness of the parents of the suspects to give financial assistance to the victim, Año said Estrellers is now determined to pursue the case in court.

"At the start I had a hard time asking for help from them when my daughter was still at the hospital. But now that the incident was published in the newspaper, they are the one who are dying to give assistance," Año quoted Estrelles as saying in Tagalog.

On Feb. 5, Marlyn, a grade 3 pupil at the Barangay Silangan Elementary School and of Moneterey Hills Subdivision, San Mateo, Rizal went home complaining of dizziness.

She, however, did not tell her parents that her two male classmates punched her while pacifying them. The suspects accused her of siding with their "enemy."

She revealed her ordeal only the next day when she started to vomit.

On Feb. 11, the victim was taken to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital where she was found to be suffering from internal bleeding. She died two days later. Non Alquitran
