‘Contact man’ in P4-M LBP robbery held

-
CEBU CITY — A 41-year-old resident from Cordova town was arrested yesterday at dawn by the integrated police team for allegedly acting as one of the local contact men of the gang that held up the Land Bank of the Philippines service vehicle last Friday.

The robbers, who are believed to be members of a professional robbery syndicate, ran off with over P4 million in cash, which was supposed to be delivered to the LBP’s main office in Osmeña Boulevard to its branch in Mandaue City.

But, Mario Inoc, a fisherman and a resident of Intramuros, Calan Dos, Cordova, denied having a hand in the incident, as well as being involved in the illegal drugs business.

Inoc said he was forced to go to the police for fear that something bad might happen to his family who was terrified during the raid.

The police, armed with a search warrant, raided the house of Inoc at around 4:30 a.m. in connection with the robbery. They seized from the latter three big packs of shabu, another three medium-sized packs of the same substance, and a caliber .22 handgun.

The raid was led by acting city police chief Lani-o Nerez, together with deputy director Josephus Angan and Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch chief Pablo Labra II. — Freeman News Service
