In her recent meeting with officials of the Non-Immigrant Visa Section of the US Embassy in Manila, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) officer-in-charge Lorna Fajardo said her agency discussed policies on the entry of Filipino workers in the United States.
Fajardo said Stuart Patt, chief of the Anti-Fraud and Non-Immigrant Visa Unit of the US Embassy, confirmed the US demand for Filipino professionals.
Patt reportedly said that many US employers or hospitals are applying for EB-3 visas to entice the professionals they needed into their workforce.
Fajardo said EB-3 visa holders were guaranteed of employment upon arrival in the US and were entitled to bring their families with them.
Fajardo said Patt clarified that nurses holding H1-B visas need not pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) exams to be employed, but should pass the NCLEX or the state board examinations. — Sandy Araneta
