US Embassy confirms big demand for RP workers

-
The United States has confirmed their big demand for Filipino workers like nurses, teachers, and other professionals, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.

In her recent meeting with officials of the Non-Immigrant Visa Section of the US Embassy in Manila, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) officer-in-charge Lorna Fajardo said her agency discussed policies on the entry of Filipino workers in the United States.

Fajardo said Stuart Patt, chief of the Anti-Fraud and Non-Immigrant Visa Unit of the US Embassy, confirmed the US demand for Filipino professionals.

Patt reportedly said that many US employers or hospitals are applying for EB-3 visas to entice the professionals they needed into their workforce.

Fajardo said EB-3 visa holders were guaranteed of employment upon arrival in the US and were entitled to bring their families with them.

Fajardo said Patt clarified that nurses holding H1-B visas need not pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) exams to be employed, but should pass the NCLEX or the state board examinations. Sandy Araneta
