Warning out vs fake PHIC checks

DAVAO CITY — Officials of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. here have warned the public against the proliferation of fake PHIC checks in Southern Mindanao.

They reported that fake PHIC checks, amounting to at least P70,000, have been recovered from various individuals and establishments in Southern Mindanao. Each check amounted to at least P9,000.

The fake checks were reportedly used to make purchases at certain establishments.

The PHIC has already warned commercial banks against honoring the spurious checks. — Edith Regalado
