3rd identified ‘gunman’ of Espinosa surr

MASBATE CITY — The third identified "triggerman" in the killing of Mayor Moises Espi—nosa Jr. gave himself up to police authorities in Uson town last Monday, authorities said.

Suspect Alexander Bermoy, 35, personally went to the office of Inspector Carlito Asilum, Uson police chief, at about 9 a.m. to surrender, according to Senior Superintendent Antonio Enteria, the new provincial police director.

Earlier, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) director Rey—naldo Wycoco named Bermoy as one of the three alleged gunmen of Espinosa.

The two other "triggermen" — Isagani Quidato and Rolando Boncaras, a jail guard — and three other suspects are now under the custody of Task Force Espinosa.

The other suspects are Charlie Quidato, a former warden of the provincial jail, and Alex Alteza and Alberto Choy, both inmates whom the former allegedly allowed to escape before the May 14 elections.

The two Quidatos are siblings of Uson Vice Mayor Arnel Quidato. Police records show Isagani had a warrant of arrest for rape.

According to police reports, Charlie Quidato, along with three companions, allegedly shot dead a former soldier, Virgilio Cabalan, a political supporter of Mayor Ramon Abinuman of Cawayan town, in February last year.

Enteria said multiple murder charges have been filed against Isagani Quidato, Choy, Alteza, one Ramil Ayque and John Does with the provincial prosecutor’s office.

The other day, Espinosa’s brother, former vice governor Mario Espinosa, called on authorities to go after the mastermind of the killing.

Espinosa was assassinated during a fiesta dance in the coastal village of Bantique in the early morning of Aug. 9.
