COTABATO CITY A Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) integree shot dead his sergeant and nearly killed three other soldiers before he was gunned down during a shooting rampage inside the command headquarters of the Armys 6th Infantry Division here.
The MNLF integree, Army Pfc. Zamora Ulalisan, was said to have shown signs of mental breakdown before he ran amuck and gunned down Sgt. Antonio Alcantara inside Camp Siongco, the 6th IDs command headquarters at the Awang District here.
After Alcantara fell, Ulalisan opened fire at Sgt. Jaime Serrano, Cpl. Adam Simbal and Pfc. Ali Salilaguia, who had tried to pacify and subdue him.
Salilaguia, who was armed with an M-16 rifle, even fired warning shots, which Ulalisan ignored.
Fearing that more soldiers at the camp could be harmed, Salilaguia, who had ducked for cover after having been repeatedly shot, fired at Ulalisan, killing him on the spot. John Unson
