Man beats son to death over toy gun

Angered that his six-year-old son damaged the toy gun he had bought for him, a resident of Rodriguez, Rizal mauled and hit him with a piece of wood last Friday, stopping only when neighbors intervened.

The boy, Noel Angeles, died from body and head injuries at the National Children’s Hospital in Quezon City yesterday.

His father, Dario, 38, is now behind bars, and has been charged with parricide. He claimed that his son merely fell and hit his head on a piece of wood. — Non Alquitran
