Emano brod denies link to kidnap

CEBU CITY — The house where kidnapped boy Ryan James Yu was recovered safe last Wednesday is owned by a brother of Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano and he has come forward to clear his name and his family’s.

Hernando Emano, a doctor from Cagayan de Oro, told radio station dyLA that his family had nothing to do with the kidnapping.

Emano said he bought the house from Ruben and Sandra Bautista in 1993 but left it in 1998 after his children finished their schooling in Cebu.

The house was left in the care of a daughter who was a resident doctor at a Cebu hospital. Emano refused to give her name for security reasons.

The daughter offered the house for rent and hired a relative, a certain Joy Lledo, to look after and clean the house every once in a while.

Emano said sometime between last July 15 and 21, a man approached Lledo and inquired about the rent. The man did not give his name but said he was from Danao City and that he and his wife were looking for a place to stay.

Emano said the man then and there paid Lledo a two-month advance of P17,000 and refused to take a receipt. — Freeman News Service
