Aurora cops raid ‘grass’ plantation

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Some 2,000 fully-grown marijuana plants with a street value of millions of pesos were seized Tuesday by combined operatives of the police and military during a raid at a farm in Barangay Dianawa, Maria Aurora, Aurora.

Chief Supt. Enrique Galang Jr., Central Luzon police director, said local police of Aurora and Military Intelligence Group (MIG3) personnel raided the marijuana plantation of the syndicate in the said barangay and destroyed at least one half hectare of marijuana plants.

Intelligence reports said the syndicate was reportedly responsible for the massive distribution of hashish and cannabis bricks in Central Luzon and Metro Manila areas.

Police tagged a certain Geronimo, of Kalinga, Apayao, as the caretaker of the plantation, but he was not around when the raiding team arrived.

The confiscation of millions of pesos worth of marijuana plants came in time for the opening of the National Anti-Drug Summit and the 1st National Convention of the KILL Droga Movement.

Since Galang assumed his post as regional director for Central Luzon, hundreds of drug pushers and also drug users have been arrested or treated at the government rehabilitation center in Barangay Sto. Niño, Magalang, Pampanga.

"We will not stop until we put an end to this present and clear danger to the country," Galang stressed. – Ric Sapnu
