CEBU CITY  A caretaker of the Bogo public library in Barangay La Purisima Concepcion was found inside the library toilet yesterday morning, dead from 63 stab wounds.
Vicente Barrosa, 64, of Barangay Sambag was lying naked in a pool of blood, the same blood that seeped under the door and caked his sticking out hand that attracted people to the gruesome find.
Most of the stab wounds were in his chest and back, with the fatal ones being the two that pierced his heart.
His wrists also bore stab wounds, apparently sustained in attempts to ward off the blows from his attacker or attackers.
According to police investigator Allan Dosdos, a call from a certain Ruel Ursal alerted them of a dead body in the public library comfort room at around 5 a.m. yesterday.
Police found next to the body a bloodied fan knife with a seven-inch blade. His clothes were on a small monobloc chair.
Cash was missing from the victim’s wallet, which police found in his pants pocket, but robbery could not immediately be established as a motive since the victim still had his wristwatch on.
Dosdos said the victim had for the past several years been also the town plaza watchman.  Freeman News Service
