Public warned on cat rabies

-
Beware of cat rabies, too.

Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit issued this warning after a five-year-old girl, bitten by a pet cat in the right knee, died at the San Lazaro Hospital recently.

Dayrit said that in fact,1.1 percent of rabies cases from 1999 to 2000 involved cats.

"This may be a rare case but this should open our eyes to the fact that cats have rabies, too," he said. — Ella Oducayen
