Massacre suspect due today

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A Filipino seaman facing multiple parricide charges here for the killing of his wife and three children is expected to be brought here today by local authorities after almost a month in hiding abroad.

Chief Superintendent Dominador Resos Jr., regional police director, said he will personally fetch Danilo Afalla, who is expected to arrive today from Miami, Florida, escorted by agents of the US Immigration and Intelligence Service.

Afalla was linked to the slaying of his 40-year-old wife Recy and children Chinee Claire, 13; Mark Anthony, 11; and Michael Angelo, 5, whose mangled bodies were discovered in a shallow grave along the bank of the Magat River here last April 18.

Police and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents also included two John Does in the criminal case filed with the sala of Municipal Trial Court Judge Alexander Balut.

Balut issued the arrest warrant for Afalla, paving the way for his extradition after he was arrested by INS agents in Miami last May 11.

Afalla slipped out of the country the day after the bodies were discovered, proceeding to Frankfurt, Germany, on his way to Miami where his ship was docked.

Officials learned about his flight from his mother five hours before he took the Lufthansa flight.

Resos theorized that Afalla killed his wife and children due to extreme jealousy, worsened by the intake of illegal drugs.
