ILOILO CITY â€â€Ã‚ The wife of an ex-mayor in Iloilo who was killed last Friday morning will run for mayor replacing her husband.
This was confirmed yesterday to The STAR by Jesus Manuel Sibya III, 20, eldest son of the slain San Joaquin town mayoral candidate Jesus Sibya Jr., of the People Power Coalition (Reporma) who was allegedly shot at close range by incumbent Mayor Sebastian Serag (National People’s Coalition).
The family decided that Daisy Sibya, 48, a CPA and a branch manager of the Veterans Bank, will run for mayor against Serag who is now detained at Regional Police Office 6 (RPO 6) at Camp Martin Delgado here.
Serag was brought to Camp Delgado yesterday afternoon with the government â€â€Ã‚ owned Toyota Revo (SGA-453) that was riddled with 16 bullet holes.
The young Sibya said that his mother will resign as branch manager of the Veterans Bank.
Iloilo first district Rep. Ninfa Garin, sister of the suspect told the local media yesterday that Sibya was shot by a shotgun and not a pistol as earlier reported. This means, she said, that Sibya’s supporters might have hit Sibya.
Garin also said that there was a shootout because the Revo was riddled with bullets holes.
According to Sibya, there was no official autopsy report released to confirm the reports of the Garin’s.
However, based on the post mortem examination, Sibya said his father had a wound close to his sex organ and also a wound in the head. Leo Solinap
