Police eye love triangle in ex-vice mayor’s slay

Police are eyeing a love triangle as the motive behind the slaying of a former vice mayor of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay last Thursday in Misamis Occidental.
Initial reports reaching Chief Superintendent Simeon Dizon Jr., Western Mindanao police director, showed that the victim, Jessie Suarez Postero, was allegedly maintaining an illicit affair with a woman, whose husband is working in Saudi Arabia.
"Our investigators are following up the love triangle theory and we expect results very soon," said Dizon in a telephone interview.
Postero, 51, was en route to Pagadian City when a lone gunman seated beside him in a van, pulled out a caliber .45 automatic pistol and shot him in the head in Barangay Bolinsang in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.
The assailant casually walked away and boarded a Kawasaki motorcycle and sped toward an unknown destination, said Dizon.
Dizon said Postero was no longer politically active, having served as Malangas vice mayor (not mayor as earlier reported) from 1991 to 1994.
The victim was not a candidate for any public office in the May 14 elections so his killing was not politically motivated, Dizon said.
According to Dizon, he ordered the police chief of Ozamiz City to immediately solve the murder case.  Non Alquitran
