Vidal remains mum on Estrada

CEBU CITY — Except for a call to prayer, Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal has remained mum on recent political developments.

But Ernesto Aboitiz of the Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference said Vidal might issue a statement, but could not say exactly when.

In the meantime, Vidal is calling on Cebuanos not to panic but to be peaceful and prayerful.

Vidal has been criticized for refusing to go along with other bishops in condemning President Estrada.

Msgr. Achilles Dakay, archdiocesan media liaison officer, said the call to prayer was all that Vidal said prior to leaving for Tuburan. — Freeman News Service
