CABANATUAN CITY - The Supreme Court (SC) has given a court sheriff here a most unusual Christmas gift: dismissal from office.
In a decision signed by Chief Justice Hilario Davide, the High Court dismissed Rodolfo Concepcion, sheriff of the Regional Trial Court Branch 28 here, for grave misconduct, abuse of authority and dishonesty.
Concepcion was found to have sold an Isuzu dump truck he had levied by virtue of a writ of attachment the court issued on Feb. 21,1997.
In the ruling, the High Court said sheriffs play an important role in the administration of justice and thus, "should always hold inviolate and invigorate the tenet that a public office is a public trust."  Manny Galvez
