Politicians warned vs use of CAFGUs in May elections

ILIGAN CITY The Philippine Armys Southern Command chief warned local politicians in Lanao del Norte against using paramilitary forces in the province as their personal security in the coming May elections.
During a recent meeting here, Lt. Gen. Gregorio Camiling, Southcom chief, said the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGU) which will be assigned to the town of Munai, Lanao del Norte and to other towns are considered under the militarys command and must be neutral in politics.
The warning came following complaints that town mayors who recommended their own men to compose the CAFGU will use them as private armies this May election in the province. Lino dela Cruz
