A Filipino worker in Brunei escaped beheading after the court there considered his admission of guilt in the murder of his Filipina fiancee two years ago, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The DFA said Bobby Torre-goza, 34, was meted a four-year jail term for the killing of his girlfriend, Novalinda Lim Silva, a waitress, on Nov. 12, 1998.
In Hong Kong, meanwhile, the DFA said a former art promoter, Maria Remedios Coady, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for bludgeoning her Swiss lover to death in 1997. Aurea Calica
