Jamby leads Batangas fundraiser

BATANGAS CITY — Presidential Adviser for Children’s Affairs Jamby Abad Santos Madrigal recently led the "2000 Walk for a Cause" here to raise funds for projects for the out-of-school youths of Batangas and advance the cause of environmental preservation.

A large group of local government officials, led by Batangas Gov. Hermilando Mandanas and members of civic groups in the province, joined her in the early morning walk that was also intended to draw children away from a life of crime.

She said the Alay Lakad Foundation-Batangas Chapter, which spearheaded the project, hoped to raise funds for projects like hog-raising, fishball-vending and skills training for thousands of out-of-school youths in the province.

"The project was a great success, judging from the support that it generated," said Madrigal, a known philantrophist and scion of a family of eminent public servants that included a senator and a Chief Justice.
