Couple save newborn baby about to be eaten by dog

-
DUMANGAS, Iloilo — It was not an angel or a blessing that fell from the sky for this couple who have wanted to have a baby since their marriage 10 months ago.

It’s from a dog that wanted a new born infant for his early breakfast, who was intentionally left by her mother in the woods.

Baby Angel Grace was found in the woods by Aisa Gonzales and couple Ruby and Mardie Mulgado, five meters from their house about 4:45 a.m. last Saturday in Barangay Sulanggan of this town, some 42 kms. from Iloilo City.

According to Mardie, the infant whom they believed was just two to three hours old when they found her, was suffering from ant bites and some hematoma in the body.

Worst, the infant had just been bitten by a dog, which resulted in a laceration in her left leg.

Mardie said, the insects and the dog were probably attracted by the blood on the infant’s body and the umbilical cord that was still intact when she was found.

The infant was immediately brought to the Dumangas District Hospital where she was treated for insect and dog bites.

"Since we have no child, we plan to adopt her and we named her Angel Grace. If someone will take her away from us, I will not give up the child easily," he told The STAR in a local Hiligaynon dialect.

Mardie said, they are now taking care of all the expenses for medicine and hospitalization of Angel Grace who is now three days old.

Police investigators, said, they could not identify the mother who had left her child in the woods to die.— Leo Solinap
