Noynoy to run for Senate?

-
TARLAC CITY — President Estrada has "initially" convinced Rep. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III of the province’s second district, to run for senator under the administration’s Lapian ng Masang Pilipino (LAMP), reliable sources here said.

The sources added that Mr. Estrada talked with former President Corazon Aquino last week regarding her son’s bid for the Senate.

Noynoy belongs to the Liberal Party which has joined the LAMP alliance, along with the Partido ng Masang Pilipino, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino and Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Last week, sources said Noynoy met with Tarlac City councilors Rivo Nisce, Arsenio Lugay II and Miguel Tañedo to "settle their differences."

Noynoy, the sources said, asked the three councilors to decide among themselves on who would seek the second district’s congressional seat as well as this city’s mayoral and vice mayoral positions.
