Apl.de.ap hopes to collaborate with Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American rapper Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas is thinking of remixing the new Christmas song he co-wrote and co-produced, and perhaps even tap some friends for possible collaborations.
"It's That Time of the Year" is a collaboration between Apl.de.ap, frequent music producer Keith Harris, and songwriter David "DC" Quinones for the children of the Sisters of Mary School choir.
After telling Philstar.com in an exclusive interview how the song came about, Apl.de. ap shared he had always wanted to make a Christmas album, even with his contestants from the local editions of "The Voice."
"It's like a project that we always try to do during the holidays," he added, reiterating he wants to colloborate with his mentees from "The Voice Teens."
Apl.de.ap said he and Keith put a Black Eyed Peas twist to "It's That Time of the Year," as if the group put out it's own Christmas song.
"We wanted something very timeless and now we could even, like I just came up with the idea that I wanna remix it," the rapper continued.
"Definitely I'm planning to do a rap verse [but] with the time constraint that we have, it's a lot to put together sometimes. We could grow into it, we could add other artists," the Grammy-winning artist added.
Some of the names Apl.de.ap mentioned were fellow "The Voice" coaches Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo, and Jessica "J. Rey Soul" Reynoso, the Filipino-American session member of the Black Eyed Peas.
"This is just the initial [plan]... so it's just gonna grow from here," Apl.de.ap ended.
