MANILA, Philippines — While a historic performance by the Eraserheads was the highlight of the UAAP Season 87 opening ceremony, there was another group that came together that was just as momentous for this year's hosts, the University of the Philippines (UP).

Four artists from three local bands who all graduated from UP teamed up to form the "Maroon 4" and perform an intense rock version of the Beatles' hit track "Come Together."

Making up "Maroon 4" were Moonstar88's Maysh Baay and Bon Sundiang, Franco bassist Dave Delfin, and Slapshock guitarist Lean Ansing.

Like the Eraserheads and "Maroon 4," other UP-originated performers graced the opening ceremony like singer Johnoy Danao, three-time global hip-hop dance champion UPeepz, the UP Symphony Orchestra, and the UP Kontra GaPi.

Completing the performers' line-up were P-pop group Kaia and an entertaining drone show. — Video from One Sports' YouTube channel
