MANILA, Philippines — Actress Lindsay Lohan confirmed a sequel to Disney's "Freaky Friday" is in development, reuniting her with Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis.

The actress told People magazine that the film is "in the process" but could not share if a script was finished or when filming would begin.

What Lindsay did say was excited to be working with Jamie again and "see how much further we can take it."

"Because we talk almost every other day in general, so I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this,” Lindsay added.

Rumors of a "Freaky Friday" sequel have been circulating for months now, especially with Jamie recently winning an Academy Award and Lindsay on a firm trajectory in her entertainment comeback.

Disney's 2003 film is based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 children's book of the same name, in which a teenager swaps bodies with her mother.

It was adapted into film twice by Disney before Lohan and Curtis' version, with Barbara Harris, Jodie Foster, Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffmann taking on the roles.

The Mark Waters-directed film, also starring Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray, took in nearly $161 million (P9 billion) at the global box office and has become a cult classic.

Since winning an Oscar for "Everything Everywhere All At Once," Jamie starred in "Halloween Ends" and another Disney remake "Haunted Mansion," appeared on two episodes of "The Bear," and was very active in the lengthy actors strike.

Former child star Lindsay meanwhile followed her comeback in Netflix's holiday flick "Falling For Christmas" with a cameo in the "Mean Girls" movie musical and will next be seen in two more Netflix films this year, "Irish Wish" and "Our Little Secret."
