Royal courting, troubles: New 'Queen Charlotte' trailer drops
MANILA, Philippines — "Bridgerton" fans are much hyped with the thought that it will only be just more than a month until they get to know King George III, all in his dashing youth, and his interesting courtship with a young Charlotte, before he succumbed to mental illness in the latter part of his life as he was often depicted in two seasons of the hit Netflix period series.
The new trailer for "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" dropped by earlier today with Corey Mylchreest as young King George and India Amarteifio as young Charlotte.
"There's a reason why they wanted me," Charlotte was heard saying in the first few seconds of the trailer.
She is reminded that there are more worse reasons than marrying the King of England.
One of the scenes follows what many people remember Queen Charlotte for: birthing a record number of royal babies. Historically, Queen Charlotte was married to King George III for 57 years and gave birth to 15 children, 13 of whom survived to adulthood.
"You will make lots of babies. As many babies as possible for my son," George's mother tells Charlotte.
Arsema Thomas strikingly resembles Adjoa Andoh, who plays fan favorite Lady Agatha Danbury in the series. Just like her older version, the young Lady Danbury is equally sharp yet sympathetic.
"Be careful. You are the first of your kind. You must secure your position," she tells her new queen confidante.
It is a given that the new characters are exciting, but nothing can be more exciting than the interaction between Corey and India as the young lovers/royals ever since their electric chemistry was first seen in the series' first teaser released five months ago.
"I realize you have no reason to like me. But if you give me one evening of your time, I'll make you hate me a little bit less," implored George to Charlotte, implying that their relationship did not start on the right footing.
Tensions and attraction, however, can never be hidden as scenes of the two sharing kisses and longing stares, give viewers a promise of a kind of steamy romance just like Daphne and Simon in Season 1 and Anthony and Kate in Season 2.
The show's synopsis reads: "Centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton."
Viewers and fans alike are left hanging and raring for more as they hear Charlotte confront George.
"I want to fight with you. Fight with me. Fight for me," Charlotte says.
