Free movie, 'secrets' revealed as KathNiel marks 10th anniversary as love team
MANILA, Philippines — Hardcore fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, otherwise known as KathNiel, will have more reasons to check out the YouTube channel of ABS-CBN Star Cinema as they can stream for free the duo's movie "She's Dating the Gangster" as well as get its exclusive behind-the-scenes in the series of explainer videos titled "Secret Movie Files."
Three of the "Secret Movie Files" episodes will feature key details on the movie.
"She's Dating the Gangster" is based on a novel with the same name set mostly in the 1980s where Athena (Kathryn) finds herself in a pretend relationship with the school's most popular basketball player Kenji (Daniel). It also features the '90s love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.
Director Cathy Garcia-Molina recalled how she convinced Daniel to wear tight, colorful shorts for the movie, a piece of clothing popular during the decade. She was also able to convince Daniel to dance, an act the actor rarely does on TV and films. Other "She's Dating the Gangster" trivia revealed include the participation of some KathNiel fans in certain scenes, and the challenges of shooting the scene where Kenji and Athena confess their feelings and officially become a couple.
All of these are part of the celebration of 10 years of KathNiel as a love team.
“Secret Movie Files” is one of the “Made for Youtube” titles under the newly launched “Kapamilya YOUniverse,” which streams content from Star Cinema, Star Music, MOR Entertainment, ABS-CBN News and ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channels.
The four remaining episodes of KathNiel’s “Secret Movie Files,” meanwhile, will drop on August 22 and 29.
