Isuzu Asks You: How Far Can It Go?

- Ayvi Nicolas -

MANILA, Philippines - Isuzu Challenges have always been the most exciting events in the motoring industry whether for the media, dealers or customers. It is usually during eco-driving experiences that the fuel efficiency of Isuzu vehicles is highlighted. This year, Isuzu Philippines Corporation extends the challenge not only to a select group of people but to everyone with its Isuzu Diesel Mission Challenge.

“We want not only to demonstrate the fuel economy of our vehicles, but also to make the event fun for our customers,” says new IPC President Ryoji Yamazaki. “All they have to do is take a guess with regard to the total distances that the three Isuzu vehicles will travel on a full tank of fuel, and they get the chance to drive home a new vehicle just like that. There are no purchases required to join the contest.”

Yes, you can take part in an Isuzu Challenge yourself and have the chance to own an Isuzu Crosswind, D-MAX or other great prizes. You don’t need to drive a gruelling thousand kilometers across Luzon island to be a winner. You can do it in the comfort of your own home, just log on to the contest website and make a calculated guess of how many kilometers an Isuzu vehicle can cover with one full tank. You must make the guess in kilometers and up to one decimal point.

Here’s the premise – an Isuzu vehicle will be loaded with the Caltex Diesel with Techron-D to full tank capacity. With professional drivers from the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) at the wheel, the Isuzu vehicle will be driven across Luzon until it runs out of fuel while monitored by Transport & Traffic Consultants, Inc. and Transportation Science Society of the Philippines.

To win your very own Isuzu vehicle, just do the math and submit your best guess by logging on to www.isuzudieselmission.com.ph. The guessing periods for the Crosswind is ongoing until July 13 while guessing for the D-MAX will be from August 1 to October 19.

The first leg of the Isuzu Diesel Challenge already wrapped up with Amelita Fernandez winning her very own brand new Isuzu NHR truck. The fifty-five year old lady from West Lingayen, Pangasinan gave the best answer to the ultimate Isuzu Diesel Mission question, “how far can it go?” Her answer of 967.9 kilometers turned out to be the closest answer to the actual odometer reading of 972.4 kilometers or 12.965 kilometers per liter. The Isuzu NHR truck started its journey in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and made a successful trip up to Barangay Del Rosario, Naga City, Camarines Sur. The flag off at the Pagudpud marker was made by IPC president Ryoji Yamazaki and IPC EVP Yuki Kato.

“We have been doing Isuzu Challenge events. Last year we finished the family challenge leg participated in by customers from 17 dealerships. We have been thinking of a new concept for Isuzu Challenge. Only a few people can participate by driving in an econo-run but this time everyone can participate by logging on and guessing how far one full tank of an Isuzu vehicle can go,” explains IPC EVP Yuki Kato.

The Isuzu Diesel Mission campaign is part of Isuzu Philippines Corporation’s diesel awareness program this year with the goal of highlighting Isuzu’s superiority in the field of diesel technology. The Isuzu chellenge campaign is composed of the Isuzu Dura-Mission, the Isuzu Farthest Mission, the Isuzu Eco-Mission, and the Isuzu Dyna Mission.

The isuzu Challenge began way back in 2002 with its Fuego, Crosswind and Trooper. That same year the manual transmission Crosswind set a fuel-economy record of 36.48 kilometers to a liter. And then a year after in Cebu, a manual-transmission Crosswind got an astounding 83.45 kilometers from a mere liter of fuel. Since then Isuzu vehicles have continuously set records in fuel efficiency and there is no stopping them from breaking their own records.

For this year, the Isuzu Challenge is sponsored by Caltex Diesel with Technron D. Other supporters include Freego, JVC, AVT, Centro Manufacturing Corp., Home Depot, Smartlink, Matabungkay Beach Resort, Monde Nissin Corporation, Magnolia Fruit Drink and Health Tea Beverages, The Philippine STAR, RMN ( DZXL) 558 KHz, DWIZ 882 KHz, Jam 88.3, Wave 89.1, Magic 89.9, Mellow Touch 94.7, Crossover 101.1, DWRJ 100.3, Home Radio 97.9 , NU Rock 107, DWRT 99.5 and Max 103.5.
