2010 Mazda CX-7 and CX-9: Zoom-Zoom SUVs

2010 Mazda CX-7: Family Sport Crossover

The Mazda CX-7 was designed to create the look of a sport crossover SUV that appeals at a single glance and invites you to get in and take a drive. The new five-point Mazda familial grille with black mesh linings, sporty profile, side mirrors with turn lamp indicators, roof spoiler, tail gate garnish, tapered side windows and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels give hints of the exhilarating performance expected from the CX-7.

Inside, the Mazda CX-7 is all about style, comfort, fine craftsmanship and the strong attention to details: center panel with dark gray metallic tone; sleek door trim, door and grab handle finish; and luxurious leather seats that are designed to pamper the occupants.

Mazda reduced the weight and height of the CX-7 for drivability and handling while its width and long wheelbase accommodates a spacious cabin and a level of athleticism that no other sport crossover SUV can match.

The Mazda CX-7’s MZR 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine produces 205Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm and 161hp at 6,000rpm and is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission designed for superb driving performance. An Engine Speed Sensing variable-assist rack and pinion steering system provides sharp handling while an all-independent suspension with MacPherson strut at the front and multilink with stabilizer bars at the rear, integrated with an ultra-rigid body, provides a comfortable ride. Dual front, side, and curtain airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Dynamic Control Stability (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS), remote keyless entry, and alarm system comprise the list of safety and security features.

Family Luxury Crossover

Launched in 2007, the Mazda CX-9 revolutionized the crossover SUV segment in the Philippines with its style, luxury and athleticism. For 2010, Mazda Philippines intends to maintain the CX-9’s edge with significant exterior and interior upgrades. It retains its smooth and flowing silhouette, prominent wheels, muscular fenders and steeply angled windscreen but with a new front end is unmistakably Mazda. From front to rear, the 2010 CX-9 express the embodiment of motion with key enhancements that include a bolder familial five-point grille, radiator grille, front combination lamps and fog lamps; larger, aerodynamic side mirrors; rear garnish, and unique, trapezoid, dual chrome exhaust pipes that accentuate the fine detail put into the CX-9’s design.

The new Mazda CX-9 is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that produces 273 hp at 6,250 rpm and 367Nm at 4,250rpm and to combine excellent acceleration and outstanding mileage, an Aisin-supplied six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission with manual mode comes as standard equipment. Mazda’s Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive, which rapidly adjusts to changing traction needs by monitoring wheel slippage, steering angle, yaw rate, lateral acceleration and available driveline torque contributes to the CX-9’s driving excitement.

Riding on a long 2,875mm wheelbase, the CX-9 has a three-row seating arrangement with ample room for adults and sufficient cargo space to accommodate modern families. The 60/40-split second row carries three in comfort and offers fore-and-aft slide travel and a reclining backrest while the 50/50-split third row provides class-leading seating position and legroom. Entry to the third row is easy and even with the passengers sitting in it, there’s 487 liters of available cargo capacity. Both second- and third-row seats fold flat to allow additional storage all the way up to the back of the front seats.

The new Mazda CX-9’s safety features include an advanced Roll Stability Control (RSC) system, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, ABS with EBD, TCS and DSC while occupant protection includes side-curtain airbags which extend from the first to the third row, seat belts with pretensioner, front headrests that reduce neck injuries during rear impacts, the exclusive Mazda Advanced Impact-energy Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS) and a back-up monitor system that features a wide-angle camera for an improved view of objects or people behind the vehicle. The new Mazda CX-9 is available in Copper Red Mica, Aluminum Metallic, Crystal White Pearl Mica, and Sparkling Black Mica.
