Pinoy Olympians pararangalan sa PSA Awards

MANILA, Philippines — Bibigyang-pugay ang mga Pinoy athletes na su­mabak sa mga nakalipas na edisyon ng Olympic Games sa San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night na idaraos sa Enero 27 sa Manila Hotel.

Nangunguna na sa listahan ang lahat ng miyembro ng Team Philippines na sumabak Paris Olympics at Paralympic Games habang dadalo rin ang mga Olympians sa nakalipas na 6- taon.

Magkakaroon ng kinatawan ang mga Olympic teams sa tulong ng Philippine Olympians Association.

Sina double gold medal winner Carlos Yulo at Paris Olympic medalists Nesthy Petecio at Aira Villegas ang tatanggap ng pinakamataas na parangal sa edis­yong ito na co-presented ng ArenaPlus, Cignal at MediaQuest.

Ibibigay kay Yulo ang Athlete of the Year habang may major awards naman sina Petecio at Villegas.

Iluluklok naman si Tok­yo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz sa PSA Hall of Fame.

Kasama sa Paris Ga­mes sina EJ Obiena, Lauren Hoffman, John Cabang Tolentino, Carlo Paalam, Eumir Marcial, Hergie Bac­yadan, Samantha Catantan, Bianca Pagdanganan, Dottie Ardina, Aleah Fin­negan, Emma Malabuyo, Levi Jung-Ruivivar, Kiyomi Watanabe, Joanie Delgaco, Kayla Sanchez, Jarold Hatch, Elreen Ando, John Ceniza, at Vanessa Sarno.

Ang Paralympic team naman ay binubuo nina Agustina Bantiloc, Jerrold Mangliwan, Cendy Asusano, Ernie Gawilan, Angel Otom, at Allain Ganapin.

Ilan sa mga kinatawan sa Olympic teams sina Mildred Canete (1964 Tok­yo), Ernesto Bren at Jaime Mariano (1968 Mexico), Freddie Webb, Marte Samson, Ricardo Fortaleza at Gerardo Rosario (1972 Munich), Reynaldo Forta­leza (1976 Montreal), Christine Jacob Sandejas (1984 Los Angeles), Akiko Thomson Guevara, Stephen Fernandez, Edgardo Maerina, Benjamin McMurray, Gregorio Colonia at Manuel Monsour del Rosario (1988 Seoul), Roel Velasco, Isidro Vicera, Juan Miguel Torres, Jaime Recio, Ed Lasquete, Walter Torres at Beatriz Lucero (1992 Barcelona).

Pasok sa 1996 Atlanta sina Mansueto Velasco Jr., Elias Recaido, at Amparo Lim habang sina Jenny Guerrero, Roberto Cruz, Donald Geisler, Jasmin Strachan Simpao, Benjamin Tolentino at Marie Antoinette Leviste sa 2000 Sydney.

Dadalo naman sina Raphael Matthew Chua at Jethro Dionisio para sa 2004 Athens at sina Eric Ang at Marestella Torres Sunang para sa 2008 Beijing.

Ang iba pang dadalo ay sina Jessie Lacuna, Re­ne Herrera, Jasmine Alkhaldi (2012 London), Kirstie Elaine Alora, Mary Joy Tabal, Charly Suarez, at Rogen Ladon (2016 Rio De Janeiro), at sina Cris Marasigan, Niervaez at Kurt Barbosa (2020 Tokyo).
