ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A noontime fire left 57 families in the densely populated Barangay San Pedro in Molo district homeless on Thursday.

Earl Anthony Darroca, Bureau of Fire Protection-Iloilo City arson investigator, pegged the damage at P3.6 million, adding that the cause of the fire is “more likely electrical in nature.”

Teresa Gelogo, city social welfare officer, said the affected families would receive between P7,000 to P10,000 each as financial assistance from the city government.

Authorities said there was no report of injuries or casualties during the two-hour fire.
