Ex-NFA employee shoots son for driving in wrong direction
MANILA, Philippines — For allegedly driving their vehicle in the wrong direction, a 61-year-old man shot his son in Quezon City.
Philip Agustin Cabrera, a retired employee of the National Food Authority, is facing charges of parricide and illegal possession of a firearm.
Superintendent Tomas Nuñez, Fairview police station commander, said the shooting happened at their house in East Fairview Subdivision, Barangay Greater Fairview at around 4:20 p.m. Friday.
Nuñez said before the shooting, Cabrera and his son, 28-year-old Mark Gabriel, argued inside their car.
In his report, Nuñez said Cabrera lashed out at his son for allegedly driving on the wrong route.
“Upon arrival at their house, a heated argument ensued,” Nuñez said.
Cabrera went to his room, took out his .380 caliber pistol and shot his son in the chest as the victim attempted to take his father’s firearm.
During the scuffle, the gun went off and he sustained another gunshot wound, this time in the left knee.
Relatives of the victim brought him to the Far Eastern University Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation hospital.
Policemen arrested Cabrera and brought him to the police station for further investigation.
