Commuter forces open PNR train’s doors
MANILA, Philippines - A video of a still unidentified commuter forcing open the doors of a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train while it was running has gone viral.
Facebook user Daryl Suyman Alcantara said he boarded the train at past 6 p.m. on Sunday when he saw the commuter, clad in jersey shorts and a black shirt, stopping the train’s doors from closing.
Alcantara said the man used his hand to prevent the doors from fully closing and when the train started to move, he forced the doors open.
He said the man seemed to be drunk and strong enough to bear the pain when he stuck his hand between the doors.
Alcantara’s video was viewed more than one million times, shared more than 12,000 times and received more than 600 reactions as of 3 p.m. yesterday.
The PNR has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, which prompted the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) to remind commuters to refrain from forcing train doors to open since it damages the train’s motor.
The MRT-3 unloaded hundreds of commuters due to door failure on Jan. 6 and 9.
