Fires hit Tondo, Alabang

MANILA, Philippines — Fires broke out in residential areas in Tondo, Manila and Alabang in Muntinlupa City yesterday.
At least 20 families in Purok Uno, Alabang were left homeless after an hour-long fire that destroyed 11 houses before it was put out at around 9:24 a.m., fire marshal Jomar Camacho said.
Arson investigators are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. No one was reported killed or injured.
In Tondo, more than 50 houses along Capulong street in Barangay 108 were destroyed by a fire that started at around 12:35 p.m., Fire Chief Inspector Joselito Reyes said.
Firefighters had difficulty getting to the site of the fire as residents waited along Road 10 with the belongings they managed to save, among them a coffin.
The blaze reached third alarm before it was put under control at past 2 p.m. Firefighters were still trying to put out the fire as of 3 p.m.
At least 200 residents were affected by the fire, authorities said.
