MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared Dec. 19 a special non-working holiday in Muntinlupa in commemoration of the city’s centennial anniversary.

On behalf of President Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 327 declaring the holiday to give residents an opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion.

The Muntinlupa Centennial Commission has lined up activities for the event, including the inauguration of Centennial Avenue, art contest, boodle fight, motocross, centennial festival at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex and thanksgiving mass at the city hall grounds in Barangay Putatan.

By virtue of Executive Order 108 issued by governor general Francis Burton Harris, Muntinlupa became a municipality on Dec. 9, 1917.

Muntinlupa has transformed from an agricultural town into a highly urbanized city.
