Quezon City honors ex-vice mayor Charito Planas

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Quezon City yesterday paid tribute to former vice mayor and martial law activist Charito Planas, who passed away on Thursday morning. 

A necrological service was held for Planas at city hall.

Planas died in her sleep at her home in Marikina. She was 87.

Her remains will be cremated at the Loyola Memorial Park.

Mayor Herbert Bautista paid his last respects to Planas during the necrological rites.

Rep. Sonny Belmonte described Planas as a person “whose entire life was for others.”

Planas served as Quezon City vice mayor from 1992 to 1995.
