MANILA, Philippines — A Parañaque court has dismissed the rape case filed against a Chinese businessman implicated in the P6.4-billion shabu smuggling from China.
Judge Aida Estrella Macapagal of the Paranaque Regional Trial Court Branch 195 junked the charge against Kenneth Dong after the complainant withdrew from the case.
The complainant executed an affidavit of desistance, saying that “what happened between her and Dong were misunderstanding and misapprehension of facts.”
Dong was released from the Parañaque police jail where he was detained after the Senate cited him in contempt during a hearing on the drug shipment last August.
Dong allegedly raped the businesswoman at a townhouse in Parañaque on April 9, 2016. He denied the allegation.
