MANILA, Philippines — A son of a former senator known for having 72 children with 16 different women was arrested Sunday night for allegedly smuggling P24 million worth of abortion pills and antibiotics into the country.

Reuben Bautista and Glenmore Gaddi arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 from Singapore at around 11 p.m.

Customs supervisor Paul Urea confirmed Bautista’s claim of being a son of former senator Ramon Revilla Jr.

Bautista and Gaddi did not declare the 70,000 200-microgram tablets of Cytotec (generic name misoprostol), an anti-ulcer drug that is also used as an abortifacient in the Philippines; and the 30,000 Augmentin (generic name co-amoxiclav) 625-milligram antibiotic tablets in their luggage, officials said.

Misoprostol is banned in the country while co-amoxiclav is a prescription drug.

The two men failed to present an import permit from the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).

Bautista and Gaddi face charges of smuggling before the Pasay prosecutor’s office.

A certain Reuben Jesse Bautista is listed among the children of Revilla (real name Jose Bautista) and Genelyn Magsaysay, www.interaksyon.com reported.

Two of their children, Ramon Joseph and Ramona, are accused of masterminding the killing of their brother, actor Ramgen Bautista, in 2011.
